24 Dec The mysteries about the Rose Garden.
Did you notice something about the pharmacy Lena went to in the Maier Files episode 2? Is it coincidence that there are 12 knights in the Northern Tower episode 1?
One of the mysteries that appears in the Maier Files series is the mysterious importance of the Rose Garden and the symbol of the Rose.
The most famous garden was the Laurin’s Tyrolean garden, enclosed with a fine silk thread. It was protected by twelve guardians. King Gibich of Worms wanted a garden just like the Tyrolean one. The King Gibich’s garden was guarded by the twelve heroes of the Rhine, one of whom was Siegfried. Krimhilde, Gibich’s daughter and Siegfried’s betrothed, had heard many wonders from Dietrich von Bern. She invited him along with the other twelve to come to the Rhine so that he and his fellow compatriots could compete in contests with her warriors. The victor would receive a wreath of roses and a kiss from her. Dietrich accepted the invitation. Eleven Bernese triumphed. In the end, Dietrich fought Siegfried, and Dietrich’s sword glanced off Siegfried’s calloused skin. Then Dietrich bristled with anger and flames shot out of his mouth, as if he were the devil. Siegfried sank defeated in the lap of Krimhilde, who quickly threw a protective veil over him. Dietrich and his heroes received their wreath of roses and a kiss.
In pre-Christian times, the wreath of roses was hung merrily on the May tree and from houses for the prize of songs. Also instead of a wreath of roses, a ram or buck was often the prize. In Kirchherten (Niederrhein) a ram festooned with silk bands was solemnly issued, and a barker requested the people of the land to dance around him. The ram was to go to the best dancer. In a chronicler of the thirteenth century, the bischop Oliver von Paderborn, reported that such dancers would have bowed humbly before the ram. That must be regarded as heresy.
The buck and rose were sacred to the god Donar or Thor! Is Thor the brother of King Laurin, who spanned his Tyrolean rose garden with a silk thread to stop unworthy intruders?
According to Wolfram von Eschenbach, Laurin said to Dietrich von Bern: “You still have 50 years to live. Yet know that my brother at home in German lands is able to give a thousand-year life. You need only choose a mountain that is ablaze inside. Then you will be akin to earthly gods!” If Thor is Laurin’s brother, who was at home in those German lands, which gave life that lasted a thousand years, did he travel a clear road to a fiery mountain?
The city Lorsch’s old name is Laurisham. Perhaps Laurin also maintained a Rose garden here. Lorsch forms with Worms and Heidelberg a triangle. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorsch –
